Ecological and Thoughtful Garden Design

Custom Garden Design for every space and budget

Our garden designs are fully customized to reflect your unique needs, vision, lifestyle, and aesthetic. We take pride in creating beautiful, functional spaces that not only enhance your life but also support biodiversity and strengthen our local ecosystems.

With experience in a wide range of garden types, we’re able to offer design, install, and care for spaces such as:

• Ornamental Perennial Gardens

• Woodland Gardens

• Pollinator & Cutting Gardens

• Edible & Medicinal Gardens – including vegetables, herbs, and more

• Sensory & Educational Gardens

• Native Meadows

• Containers & Seasonal Planters - As an accent to your gardens or as a garden alternative when you're short on garden space. Great for people with a lot of deck or patio space!

Whether you're looking to transform a shady corner, bring pollinators to your yard, grow your own food, transform your lawn to meadow, or create a place of peace and deep nature connection, we’re here to help bring your garden visions to life—beautifully and sustainably.

We approach each design through an ecologically mindful lens—carefully selecting native and site-appropriate plants that are suited to your soil, light, and growing conditions. By listening closely to both the land and your vision, we’re able to curate spaces that are beautiful, vibrant, resilient, and supportive of biodiversity.

Our Design Process

We believe that a successful design is thoughtful, well-informed, and collaborative. We want you to be an integral part of the process—and to feel just as excited and confident about the vision as we do. We don’t move forward with any projects until we’ve arrived at a clear, shared understanding of the design, ensuring that the element aligns with your goals, the spirit of the space, and the needs of the land.

As with all of our work, our design process begins with a comprehensive consultation—a time for listening, asking questions, and observing. We believe that meaningful, ecological design starts with connection: to you, to the land, and to your visions.

Before we meet, we invite you to reflect on what you're truly seeking. What is your vision for these spaces? How do you hope to feel when you're in your gardens? How do you imagine living within or using these outdoor areas? These reflections help guide our conversation and ensure that the designs we create are rooted in your values, intentions, and goals.

When we meet, we begin by walking through your gardens and outdoor spaces—taking quiet time to observe the land, our surroundings, and what’s already present. We notice what’s thriving, what may be struggling, and any challenges or patterns the land is revealing. This initial 'walk around' helps us attune to the landscape first, allowing our conversations to be rooted in awareness and presence. While we are there, we take measurements, photos, and do some quick sketching along with taking notes from our observations and our detailed conversation.

Next, we schedule our first garden work visit. We believe that being physically present and working with the land plays an important role in the beginning of any design project. Weather we are starting from scratch, reclaiming an overgrown or neglected garden space, or adding native plants to an existing garden, we understand that our observation and time spent with these spaces is an integral part of our process and connection to the land. This may include a garden clean-up, garden bed/area preparation, invasive plant removal, garden sketches, and any work that may be necessary to move our work forward.

 Securing our Partnership

From here, we formally secure our working relationship. When you choose Love Grows Here to design and install your gardens, we ask that you also entrust us with the continued care and guidance that you and these spaces need to thrive throughout this first season.

To support this commitment, we request a $250 seasonal retainer. This retainer represents a mutual agreement—a shared investment in the process and in our working relationship. It ensures that we hold dedicated time, energy, and resources to follow through on the plans we create together from start to finish.

Now, the Really Fun Part Begins!

By this stage, you’ll have already received our curated native plant list as part of our initial work together. After our consultation and first garden visit—where we’ve walked the land, shared visions & ideas, gathered information, and secured our working relationship—we’ll follow up with a custom plant list inspired by your vision and thoughtfully tailored to your landscape’s unique site, soil, and light conditions.

We invite you to take some time to review this list, explore the plants, and reflect on how they align with your visions and goals. This is an important step in our collaborative design process, helping to inform and inspire you and the vision we’re creating together.

While you’re reviewing the plant list, we’ll be busy honing our design—drafting hand-drawn plans, sourcing plants, confirming availability, and exploring alternative selections if needed. We'll also schedule a time to connect and talk through plant choices, answer your questions, and finalize the working design.

Once we both feel aligned and excited about the plan, we’ll move forward to schedule your garden installation day(s)!

Our Design Fee & What’s Included
Our design fee typically ranges from $500–$1,000, depending on the size and scope of your project. We ask for 50% of this fee to be paid upfront, with the remaining balance due before, or at the time of planting and installation.

This fee includes:
• Plant inspiration and selection
• Design planning and custom design drawing(s)
• Plant sourcing and availability coordination
• Ongoing communication and collaboration throughout the design phase

We aim to make this process clear, supportive, and collaborative every step of the way!
